⭕In line with the Egyptian state's efforts to achieve environmental sustainability and support the transition to a green economy, and following the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research's launch of the comprehensive awareness campaign to rationalize energy consumption, "Save It... Light It Up," and in continuation of Zagazig University's vision to promote environmental awareness within the university community, the Faculty of Specific Education at Zagazig University announced the launch of a major student competition entitled: "Rationalizing Energy Consumption... Creativity Towards a Sustainable Future." Students from various disciplines within the faculty are participating.
⭕The competition is held under the auspices of Professor Dr. Khaled El-Darandaly, President of the University; Professor Dr. Helal Afifi, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs; Professor Dr. Hanan El-Nahhas, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; and Professor Dr. Akmal Shawky, Dean of the Faculty. It is supervised by Professor Dr. Ahmed Badie, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Professor Dr. Ehab Atef, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs.
⭕The competition aims to develop environmental awareness among students and encourage them to present innovative ideas that contribute to rationalizing energy consumption, through the use of various artistic and educational media that reflect the applied and creative nature of study within the faculty.
The competition includes four main themes, allowing students the freedom to participate in one or more. These themes are:
The first theme involves producing a creative awareness video, no longer than two minutes, highlighting the importance of energy conservation in daily life.
The second theme focuses on artistic design, including the creation of posters, infographics, or digital works that reflect innovative ideas for reducing consumption.
The third theme involves creating handmade crafts based on recycling and upcycling, contributing to resource reduction. It also includes presenting practical ideas and initiatives for energy conservation within the university or local community.
The fourth theme focuses on creative writing, including the preparation of articles, short stories, or awareness texts in an innovative style that addresses energy and sustainability issues.
The college administration explained that three prizes will be awarded for each theme (first, second, and third place), in addition to certificates of appreciation for outstanding participants. The entries will be evaluated by a specialized committee of faculty members to ensure the highest standards of quality and objectivity. The best submissions will be showcased at an exhibition or event organized by the college. Outstanding ideas will be supported to transform them into viable projects, thus enhancing the role of students as active partners in achieving sustainable development.
The college has set April 30, 2026, as the deadline for submissions. The submission process is through the official Google Form, which is included in the announcement.
Professor Dr. Akmal Shawky, Dean of the College, emphasized that this competition reflects the college's community and educational role and its commitment to preparing a generation aware of environmental and energy issues, capable of employing creativity to address contemporary challenges, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and Egypt's Vision 2030.
The college administration invites its students to actively participate under the slogan:
"Be part of the change… and take a step towards a more sustainable future with your creativity."
