⭕As part of the ongoing monitoring of the new programs and enhancing their efficiency to meet the requirements of institutional development, and under the auspices of Professor Dr. Khaled El-Darandaly, President of Zagazig University, and Professor Dr. Helal Afifi, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, the New Programs Committee at the Faculty of Specific Education held its meeting on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. The meeting was chaired by Professor Dr. Akmal Shawky, Dean of the Faculty, and attended by Professor Dr. Ehab Atef, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, Professor Dr. Salah Sherif, General Coordinator of Distinguished Programs, Professor Dr. Hanem Khaled, Head of the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences, Professor Dr. Iman Shaaban, Head of the Department of Educational Technology, and several program coordinators.
⭕The committee began its work by approving the minutes of the previous meeting, followed by a review of the reports monitoring the educational process of the new fee-based programs for March 2026. These reports addressed academic performance indicators and the regularity of classes during the second semester, reflecting the Faculty's commitment to closely monitoring the educational process.
The committee also discussed a detailed report on the number of students who registered electronically for courses, along with the approval of issuing warnings to non-compliant students, in accordance with regulations and to ensure the smooth running of studies.
The meeting included a presentation of a report evaluating the current status of academic programs and specializations, in light of presidential directives to develop university education. Several development proposals were put forward to enhance program efficiency and competitiveness, including the introduction of new and distinctive programs within the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences:
1. Arabic Language Teacher for Primary Grades and Community Education
2. Mathematics and Science Teacher for Primary Grades and Community Education
The committee also reviewed the following distinguished programs, which align with the college's vision for developing specialized education:
• A four-year, fee-based Bachelor's program for preparing high school graduates to become Programming and Artificial Intelligence Teachers, in partnership with the Faculty of Computers and Information. This program prepares high school graduates to work in all fields related to Programming and Artificial Intelligence. • A one-year professional diploma program for intensive preparation of programming and artificial intelligence teachers, in partnership with the Faculty of Computers and Information.
⭕ The committee also reviewed the results of the first semester's exam paper evaluation, which contributes to improving the quality of assessment and measurement.
⭕ In the context of future planning, the committee discussed the proposed student intake for the new programs for the 2026-2027 academic year, totaling 1,000 students. These students will be distributed across the Educational Technology for Students with Disabilities, Computer Science for Students with Disabilities, and the English Language Teacher Program for Primary Grades and Community Education, reflecting the college's focus on a well-considered expansion of specialized programs.
⭕ In this context, Professor Dr. Akmal Shawky, Dean of the College, emphasized that the meeting of the New Programs Committee comes within the framework of a strategic vision aimed at the continuous development of academic programs, achieving the highest quality standards and keeping pace with the rapid changes in the labor market.
His Excellency pointed out that the college places great importance on monitoring performance indicators and developing teaching and assessment mechanisms, in addition to expanding specialized programs that meet the needs of the community. He emphasized that the next phase will witness further development and modernization, which will enhance the college's position as a leading educational institution.
This meeting reflects the commitment of the Faculty of Specific Education at Zagazig University to adopting an institutional approach based on continuous planning, monitoring, and evaluation. This contributes to developing its academic programs and raising the efficiency of its educational outcomes, and affirms its active role in preparing qualified personnel capable of keeping pace with the requirements of sustainable development.
