Within the framework of the societal and pioneering role of the Faculty of Specific Education at Zagazig University, and under the auspices of His Excellency Prof. Dr. Khaled El-Drandali, President of the University, His Excellency Prof. Dr. Gihan Yousry, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, His Excellency Prof. Dr. Hani Helmy, Dean of the Faculty of Specific Education, and His Excellency Prof. Dr. Ahmed Badie, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, the Volunteer Work Unit, headed by Dr. Amira Khairy, in cooperation with the Department of Musical Sciences, headed by His Excellency Prof. Dr. Reham Ahmed Ehab, organized a special humanitarian day to visit the nursing home in Al-Ghar on Tuesday, February 25, 2025. The event was attended by a number of faculty members and students, headed by Assistant Professor Dr. Aya Salah, Professor in the Department of Musical Sciences. The event aimed to provide psychological and moral support to the residents of the home and bring joy to their hearts. In his speech, Prof. Dr. Hani Helmy, Dean of the College, stated that this visit falls within the College's strategy to promote volunteer work and instill the values of social solidarity among students. He added, "Volunteer work is one of the pillars of community service, and we are always keen to support humanitarian initiatives that leave a positive impact on everyone, especially the elderly, who deserve our utmost attention and appreciation."
Prof. Dr. Ahmed Badie, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, praised the efforts of the volunteer work team, emphasizing that these initiatives reflect the students' positive spirit in serving the community and foster a sense of social responsibility.
Dr. Amira Khairy, Director of the Volunteer Work Unit at the College, expressed her happiness with the success of the volunteer day, saying, "Putting a smile on the faces of the elderly is the greatest reward we can receive. The students have set an exemplary example of giving, and we invite all students to participate in such humanitarian events." The day included a diverse artistic program led by Assistant Professor Dr. Aya Salah, with the participation of the Music Sciences Department Choir, who performed a selection of songs that were well-received by the residents. The program also included a tour of the home's corridors to present symbolic gifts and interact directly with the elderly.
This day is part of a series of volunteer activities organized by the college to promote a spirit of cooperation and social solidarity. This underscores the college and university's role in serving the community and developing the environment, contributing to building a generation of students aware of their societal role.
