In line with the Faculty of Specific Education at Zagazig University's commitment to enhancing the quality of academic and research performance and continuing its institutional development in accordance with the university's directions and the Egyptian state's vision for advancing the university education system, and under the auspices of Professor Dr. Khaled El-Darandaly, President of the University, Professor Dr. Ehab El-Beblawy, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Professor Dr. Helal Afifi, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and Professor Dr. Hanan El-Nahhas, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, the Faculty Council held its 197th session, chaired by Professor Dr. Akmal Shawky Gaballah, Dean of the Faculty and Head of the Council, on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, in the presence of the council members.
The council began its proceedings by welcoming the members and exchanging greetings on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, while emphasizing the importance of continuing to work as a unified team to achieve the faculty's objectives in various academic, research, and community sectors. The council also observed a moment of silence in tribute to the memory of Professor Dr. Bahaa El-Naggar, the former Dean of the College, praying that God Almighty grant him His mercy. The council also mourned the passing of Ahmed Mohamed Mustafa, a student with special needs in the Department of Art Education, expressing its deepest condolences to his family and classmates.
⭕The session included discussions on several strategic topics related to developing academic programs. A number of proposals were presented for the creation of new, distinguished programs that meet the needs of the contemporary job market. These included programs for preparing teachers for hotel schools, fashion design specialists, educational technology and robotics specialists, computer science teachers in English, and specialized digital media. This reflects the college's vision for expanding interdisciplinary programs and future specializations.
⭕The council also reviewed the college's preparations for the second semester exams of the 2025/2026 academic year. Discussions included approving the composition of the examination control committees and the committees responsible for evaluating exam papers, and emphasizing the importance of preparing daily reports to monitor the progress of the exams. This ensures the highest levels of discipline, quality, and transparency within the examination committees. ⭕In the Graduate Studies and Research sector, the council reviewed a large number of applications for master's and doctoral theses across various academic departments. These theses addressed a wide range of modern research topics in the fields of educational and psychological sciences, educational media, home economics, music education, art education, and educational technology. This reflects the growing research activity within the college and the researchers' interest in contemporary issues related to artificial intelligence, green technology, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development.
⭕The council also approved several thesis and dissertation examination committees, affirming the college's support for scientific research and its commitment to providing a conducive academic environment for researchers. This environment contributes to the production of sound scientific knowledge that serves the community and advances various specialized fields.
⭕In the area of community service and environmental development, the council discussed several community initiatives. These included nominating a group of faculty members to participate in training programs and development initiatives aimed at empowering women economically, in cooperation with executive bodies in the governorate. This strengthens the college's community role and underscores its commitment to local development issues. The council also addressed several topics related to the academic departments. The Department of Music Education discussed a number of issues concerning the development of admission procedures and the reinstatement of aptitude tests, ensuring the preservation of the quality of educational outcomes and the unique nature of the music specialization.
In support of the university's visual and aesthetic identity, the council approved the donation of several artworks and paintings created by students of the Department of Art Education to beautify the campus. This reflects the role of art in enriching the educational environment and instilling values of belonging and creativity in students.
Professor Dr. Akmal Shawky, Dean of the Faculty and Head of the Council, affirmed that the continuous development witnessed by the Faculty across various sectors is the result of integrated institutional work and a clear vision aimed at enhancing academic, research, and community excellence. He noted that the Faculty continues to develop its study programs, expand the fields of scientific research, and link them to the needs of society and the labor market, thus solidifying its position as one of the leading faculties within Zagazig University.
⭕The council concluded its work by emphasizing the continuation of the implementation of development and modernization plans in all sectors of the college, working to support innovation and academic excellence, and enhancing the college’s role in serving the community and developing the environment, in line with the university’s goals and Egypt’s Vision 2030, and contributing to preparing quality cadres capable of competing, creating and building a more developed and sustainable future.
