⭕As part of Zagazig University's commitment to raising awareness about preventative measures and promoting a safe work environment, and under the auspices of Professor Dr. Khaled El-Darandaly, University President, and Professor Dr. Hanan El-Nahhas, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Akmal Shawky, Dean of the Faculty, the Faculty of Specific Education organized an educational seminar entitled "Occupational Safety and Health in University Education."
⭕The seminar was held on Sunday, May 10, 2026, in the discussion hall of the Home Economics building, with the participation of a number of faculty members and students. Ms. Ola Hassan Mohamed Hassan, an occupational safety and health chemist at the Sharqia Labor Directorate, presented a comprehensive scientific overview covering occupational safety and health concepts, modern management systems, the objectives of safety committees, and mechanisms for dealing with emergencies. She also reviewed the types of hazards and methods of preventing them within educational institutions.
The lecturer also emphasized the importance of employing technology in predicting and mitigating risks before they occur, stressing that implementing safety standards is a fundamental pillar for ensuring a safe and sustainable learning environment.
In his address, Professor Dr. Akmal Shawky, Dean of the College, affirmed that organizing this seminar stems from the College's commitment to instilling a culture of occupational safety and health among all its members. He pointed out that providing a safe environment is a fundamental element in supporting the educational process and achieving institutional quality.
For his part, Professor Dr. Ahmed Badie, Vice Dean of the College for Community Service and Environmental Development, explained that the College places great importance on enhancing community awareness of safety issues. He emphasized that such events contribute to raising individual efficiency and equipping them to deal with risks effectively and consciously.
Dr. Omnia Samir, Director of the College's Crisis and Disaster Management Unit, indicated that the seminar represents an important step towards building an integrated crisis management system within the College. This is achieved by training students and faculty members on proper methods for handling emergencies, thus enhancing the institution's readiness to face various challenges. ⭕The seminar concluded by emphasizing the importance of continuing to organize such awareness events, which contribute to spreading a culture of safety and prevention, and promoting social responsibility within the university campus, in support of the university’s direction towards a safe and sustainable educational environment that keeps pace with the requirements of the times.
