⭕In line with the state's directives to develop the university education system, and in implementation of the political leadership's directives to modernize academic specializations to meet labor market demands, and under the auspices of Professor Dr. Khaled El-Darandaly, President of Zagazig University, the Faculty of Specific Education held an expanded meeting of the committee formed to study and evaluate the current status of the faculty's programs and specializations on Sunday, March 15, 2026. The meeting was chaired by Professor Dr. Akmal Shawky, Dean of the Faculty, with Professor Dr. Ehab Atef, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, serving as Vice Chairman, and the heads of the academic departments as members. ⭕The formation of the committee came in response to discussions held during the emergency meeting of the University Council on March 14, 2026, regarding the preparation of a comprehensive study by each faculty to evaluate current academic programs and proposals for their development. This is in preparation for developing Zagazig University's vision to be presented to the Supreme Committee formed by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to study the development of university specializations in Egypt.
⭕ The committee discussed, during its meeting, the mechanisms for preparing the required study according to the unified model developed by the university for its various colleges. This model includes a thorough evaluation of current programs in terms of their suitability to labor market needs, the availability of material and human resources, the existence of field training programs and cooperation agreements with employers, in addition to analyzing student numbers over the past five years and identifying proposed pathways for developing existing programs or introducing new ones.
The meeting also addressed future proposals for developing the college's academic programs, whether through updating current programs or creating new interdisciplinary programs that integrate with other specializations within the university or with academic institutions and external entities. This aims to enhance graduates' competitiveness in the local, regional, and international labor markets.
In this context, Professor Dr. Akmal Shawky, Dean of the Faculty of Specific Education, emphasized that the formation of this committee reflects the college's commitment to actively participating in national efforts to develop university specializations. He pointed out that the current stage requires a comprehensive review of study programs to align with the rapid transformations in the labor market and technological and knowledge-based advancements.
His Excellency explained that the college, through this study, seeks to present a realistic scientific vision based on a thorough analysis of the current situation, along with constructive development proposals that contribute to enhancing the quality of educational programs and support graduates' ability to meet the needs of society and the requirements of sustainable development.
The committee also emphasized the importance of linking educational outcomes to the labor market at the local, regional, and international levels, and strengthening the connection between academic programs and various industrial sectors, both traditional and modern. This will contribute to preparing graduates who possess the practical and theoretical skills capable of meeting development needs and the changing demands of the labor market.
This initiative comes within the framework of the national trend to modernize the higher education system in Egypt, which enhances the role of universities in preparing qualified personnel who possess the necessary skills and knowledge to keep pace with the challenges of the times. It also reflects the commitment of the Faculty of Specific Education at Zagazig University to continuously develop its academic programs, thus consolidating its position as a scientific institution that effectively contributes to supporting the development and progress of society.
