⭕As part of Zagazig University's awareness-raising role in serving the community and promoting a culture of safety within educational institutions, the Faculty of Specific Education organized an educational seminar entitled "Foundations of Occupational Safety and Security" on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, in Lecture Hall (B) of the Home Economics Building. The seminar was attended by a number of faculty members, students, and staff.
⭕The seminar was held under the auspices of Professor Dr. Khaled El-Darandaly, President of the University, and Professor Dr. Hanan El-Nahhas, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Akmal Shawky, Dean of the Faculty, and Professor Dr. Ahmed Badie, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development. It was organized by Professor Dr. Omnia Samir, Director of the Crisis and Disaster Management Unit at the Faculty.
⭕The seminar was presented by Dr. Hossam El-Din Gouda Abu Mandour, who addressed a number of important topics related to occupational safety and security concepts, the foundations of risk prevention within work environments and educational institutions, and reviewed the preventive measures and precautions that must be followed to maintain the safety of individuals and property. He also addressed the importance of disseminating a culture of preventative awareness and continuous training in dealing with emergencies and crises, which contributes to building a safe and stable educational environment.
In this context, Professor Dr. Akmal Shawky, Dean of the College, emphasized that spreading a culture of occupational safety and security is a fundamental pillar for maintaining the safety of the university community. He noted that the college is keen to organize such awareness events, which contribute to raising awareness among students and staff about the importance of adhering to safety procedures on campus. He added that establishing this culture positively impacts the quality of the educational environment and enhances individuals' ability to deal with crises and emergencies efficiently and responsibly.
For his part, Professor Dr. Ahmed Badie, Vice Dean of the College for Community Service and Environmental Development, explained that organizing this seminar comes within the framework of the sector's plan to spread environmental and preventative awareness within the college. He stressed that occupational safety is no longer an option but a fundamental necessity to ensure a safe work and learning environment. He also indicated that the sector is working on implementing a series of awareness programs and training activities aimed at promoting a culture of prevention and reducing risks within the university community.
⭕For her part, Professor Dr. Omnia Samir, Director of the Crisis and Disaster Management Unit at the college, affirmed that the unit strives to enhance the college's preparedness in facing various crises and emergencies by disseminating a culture of risk management and providing training on mechanisms for handling emergency situations. She explained that such seminars represent an important step in building institutional awareness based on proactive preparation and sound planning to confront potential challenges.
⭕The seminar concluded with attendees emphasizing the importance of continuing to organize such educational events, which contribute to establishing the concepts of occupational safety and security within the university community. This fosters a safe and stimulating learning environment and supports the university's role in preparing conscious and capable individuals who can effectively contribute to serving the community and sustainable development.
