In the presence of the college leadership… an expanded meeting to enhance the efficiency of the academic advising system at the Faculty of Specific Education, Zagazig University.


⭕As part of the Faculty of Specific Education at Zagazig University's commitment to ensuring the smooth operation of the educational process and the quality of academic services provided to students, and under the auspices of Professor Dr. Khaled El-Darandaly, President of the University, and Professor Dr. Helal Afifi, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, an expanded meeting was held with the academic advising coordinators of the academic departments. The meeting was attended by Professor Dr. Akmal Shawky, Dean of the Faculty, Professor Dr. Ehab Atef, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, Professor Dr. Doaa Mohamed Mostafa, Director of the Academic Advising Unit, as well as the heads of the academic departments and the faculty's advising coordinators, on Saturday, February 28, 2026. ⭕The meeting aimed to review course registration indicators according to the approved regulations and to examine the statistics presented regarding student compliance with registration requirements and prerequisites for each course. This ensures the establishment of a well-structured academic path that supports sound academic progress. The meeting also addressed the most prominent difficulties encountered by some students during the online registration process and proposed practical mechanisms to overcome them within a framework of full coordination between the faculty administration and the academic departments.

The meeting confirmed the categories exempt from the educational platform fees according to the established regulations. It also discussed extending the course registration period until the end of the week to allow students more time to complete their procedures. Emphasis was placed on adhering to Article (29) of the college regulations, which stipulates that any registered student who fails to register for their courses during the add/drop period will be considered withdrawn from the semester.

In his address, Professor Dr. Akmal Shawky affirmed that academic advising is a cornerstone of the credit-hour system's success, given its pivotal role in guiding students and helping them make informed educational decisions based on sound academic principles. He stressed the importance of institutional integration between the college administration and departments to ensure effective support that positively impacts the quality of educational outcomes.

For his part, Professor Dr. Ehab Atef explained that the college places great importance on monitoring registration procedures and ensuring students are aware of their study plans. He emphasized that adherence to registration rules and prior requirements ensures academic fairness, reduces academic difficulties, and contributes to the smooth commencement of studies.

⭕Professor Dr. Doaa Mustafa emphasized the importance of strengthening direct communication channels between students and academic advisors, highlighting the vital role of advisors in raising academic awareness, monitoring the online registration process step-by-step, and supporting students in overcoming any challenges they may encounter.

⭕The meeting included a constructive dialogue on several implementation proposals aimed at developing follow-up mechanisms, simplifying procedures, and enhancing the effectiveness of the academic advising system to meet quality and accreditation requirements.

⭕At the conclusion of the meeting, the college administration affirmed its continued support for academic departments and its commitment to teamwork, ensuring a well-organized and stimulating learning environment capable of producing graduates with the scientific and professional competence to compete and serve the community effectively and efficiently.
